THE FIRST HONG KONG MADE ELECTRIC WATER HEATER WHICH COMPLIES WITH BRITISH STANDARD AND ARE WIDELY USED BY GOVERNMENT AND ARMY DEPARTMENTS

Berlin water heaters were tested and certified to be in compliance with British Standard BS3456 in the seventies by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries. Application No. E532
In 1972, Government Supplies Department submitted Berlin Water Heater to Electrical and Mechanical Service Department for testing and found to be in compliance with British Standards. The government Supplies Department started recruiting Berlin products since then. It was deemed to be a break through at that time. File No. PR/15/1/8L/M58/71
To cope with different demands in different periods, the company submitted Berlin products for various certifications through the years and were tested and confirmed for conformity to IEC335-2-21 by 4 institutions in 1980-1999 IEC60335-2-21 in 1989, BS3456 and Hong Kong Electrical Product (safety) Regulations in 1997.

THE FIRST HONG KONG ELECTRIC WATER HEATER MANUFACTURER AWARDED WITH SAFETY MARK LICENSE

In 1999 the founder of the company planned to apply for either ISO 9001 Quality Management Certificate or Hong Kong Safety Mark License and the latter was chosen . The reason is that the license issuing institute – The Hong Kong Safety Institute limited is a wholly own establishment set up in 1998 by The Hong Kong Standard and Testing Centre which established its first electrical product testing service in 1969. Backed by 30 years of authoritative experience in safety endorsement, the management recognized that the Hong Kong Safety Mark License better signifies Berlin water heaters as a product developed with time.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT AND PROFESSIONAL ASSESSMENT

The founder of Berlin brand has acquired certificates of the ISO 9000 series of management training in 1999 and has applied such skill in daily operation of the company since then. Therefore, it only took three months for the company to pass all stringent assessments and acquired the Hong Kong Safety Mark License. The institute then carries out random checks and inspections on site to assess the production process and quality control in order to assure that all products are safe and reliable. The Safety Mark License is a guarantee for confidence.

HONG KONG ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS (SAFETY) REGULATIONS

According to regulations, all electric water heaters supplied or sold in Hong Kong must possess product safety certificate and comply with water works regulations. The unvented or closed type electric water heater is one of the listed products which must conform to a designated safety specification.
The protections devices stipulated by laws include:
80^oC Thermostat to BS3955
85^oC Thermal cut out to BS3955
90-96^oC 1000 kpa Pressure and Temperature Relief Valve to BS6283
Anti-Vacuum Device: The creative patented design in 2003 ensures that water inside water heater tank will not be drawn out during supply interruption. The device complies with BS6282
The high grade stainless steel tanks of Berlin heaters undergo hydraulic test with pressure up to 18 bars and is therefore tough and durable. It with stands a normal working pressure up to 8 bar.

Patented Metal Tube For Temperature Controller

In 1997, the founder invented a patented “Metal Tube for Temperature Controller”. This unique design can help to locate the temperature control sensor bulb in an optimum position anywhere along the length of the inner tank to detect the metal temperature directly. This will facilitate the sequential operation of all control devices and in turn eliminate the phenomenon of over temperature in upper portion of tank which frequently causes improper discharge of the pressure and temperature relief valve. As a result, users are free from inconveniences and waste of money.



PATENTED ANTI-BACKFLOW LIQUID SUPPLY PIPE
( Registration No. HK1054663 PRC Registration No. 200410032768.3) In 2003, we invented an Anti-Backflow device. This innovative design will ensures that no water will be siphoned back to supply line in case of water interruption. The built-in anti-vacuum function conforms to British standard BS6282; with which money and service hours are saved for both users and supplier.
